COMMEMORATIVE TAPESTRY
In WW2 the Royal Air Force operated a Flying-Boat base on the Nile River at Khartoum, Sudan.
10 embroidered Sudanese presentation tapestries were gifted to the R.A.F. by the Sudanese Government for their efforts in WW2.
The inscription reads 'Souvenir of Sudan - 1944 - Roosevelt Churchill.'
Provenance reads in part, '...I was serving in the Royal Air Force as Air Crew of the North African Campaign and was transferred to Khartoum-Sudan waiting to go home to England after serving from 1940-1944...The Wing Commander was presented with 10 of these Table-Cloths from The Sudanese Government to give to the most worthy personnel of the Unit. I was chosen as one of the personnel with my record of The Desert Campaign North Africa...'

The original owner was from South Africa. Comes with letter of provenance from owner.
